MATERIAL PHOTOCOPIES |
Dear Volunteer,
if you would like material photocopied please
leave what you want with a note in the Kusasa
project's
office and it will be done for your next lesson.
Or request specific material and I will look for
it for you.
If you are doing the beginner groups using
'literacy for all' books then focus on sight
word retention - phonics is too complicated for
now. There are worksheets for each book so
rather use the method in its entirety and it
will make it a lot easier for you.
Once all the groups are up and running I will
distribute an assessment sheet for each class
which will be quick and easy to use.
If you can't make a lesson please could you sms
me on 079 183 2822 the night before if possible so
we can make a plan.
Once again thank you for your time, dedication
and commitment to the kids - you add
immeasurable value to their lives! Thank you,
Jacquie.

A warm welcome to all our incredible volunteers
who give so much to the Kusasa Project: from the
early morning feeding scheme to the late
afternoon homework classes; from the morning
reading sessions to the afternoon clubs: the
chess club, acapella, arts and crafts and
ballet; from the fund raising to the curtain
making - such a lot goes on all the time and it
is only made possible by your generosity.

NEW LITERACY INITIATIVE
We have just lauched our new initiative for the
literacy programme. In order to measure the
impact that we have on the childrens' learning
and ensure that we are as effective as possible
we have decided, with the sanction of the
University and the support of Avusa, to take
smaller groups of the more able students in each
grade this year in the hopes that once they can
read independently they will develop a love of
reading which in turn will open up their
horizons and enrich their dreams and their
vision for the future and they will then help us
to help the less able readers in turn.
We are on the threshold of a very exciting
journey and feel privileged to be have so many
generous and committed volunteers on board!
